“You cannot claim to worship Jesus in the Tabernacle, if you do not pity Jesus in the slums. . . It is folly — it is madness — to disclose that you can worship Jesus in the Sacraments and Jesus on the throne of glory, when you are sweating him in the souls and bodies of his children.”- – Bishop Frank Weston at the 1923 Anglo-Catholic Congress
1923 Anglo-Catholic Congress
Christian socialism is a small branch of Christian thought and practice that grew in England and the United States. It seeks to set the values of traditional Christian value in juxtaposition to the values of capitalism and corporate culture. In Europe a Christian socialism usually is referring to labor movement activity lead by a Christian leader.
The roots of Christian socialism go back to 1848, when Chartism failed to produce widespread improvement of circumstances for the English worker. Chartism was a set of principles that English reformers hoped would bring better social conditions for working class people. Rather than Marx; Christian socialism was defined by such men as Carlyle, Coleridge and Southey.

The movement in 1854 founded a well-liked laborers association, a workingmen’s college, and helped politically influence some reform to benefit the common laborer. John Ludlow, Frederick Maurice, and Charles Kingsley tried to organize the church to speak out against the excesses of capitalism. They in general failed in their effort but the work was taken on by such groups as the Fabian Society, advocates of “guild socialism” and many Roman Catholic groups.
In America Christians organized a labor organization in 1889 known as the Society of Christian Socialist and tried to carry on the work of earlier Christian Socialist leaders such as Washington Gladden and Richard Ely.

Anglo-Catholic Socialism is small sphere of Christians who adhere to the practices of “High Church; but also advocate progressive social practice and hiss for the concerns of the working man. The “Oxford Movement” had special appeal to the working man with its emphasis on the “Incarnation” of Christ. This emphasis on the “Incarnation” and Jesus’ own flow as a current laborer during his time on earth gave some branches of Anglo-Catholics some connection to Christian Socialism’. This lead to the eventual establishment of the Jubilee Group in England in the mid twentieth century and eventually to the Society of Sacramental Socialist who still try to influence progressive political reform today. Progressive Anglo Catholics also associate themselves with groups that in general advocate social progress without supporting socialism; such as Affirming Catholicism. Confirming Catholicism has both American and English groups.

I have an uncle who absolutely LOVES NASCAR. In fact, he mature to own a store that sold NASCAR memorabilia. He no longer has the store, but that is not because there was a lack of interest in NASCAR or that his hold treasure of NASCAR faded. He went to work for my aunt, who owns a very successful online quilt store. Even though he no longer owns the store, every year they consume off in their camper and watch the races.

NASCAR Top Accelerate Track #1: Talladega Superspeedway

Okay. I admit that the first hurry track on my list is on my list because it is in one of my favorite movies. Talladega Nights starring Will Ferrell is a roll-on-the-floor-laughing movie about a successful fictional race track driver, Ricky Bobby.

The Talladega Superspeedway is located in Alabama. According to Wikipedia “Talladega Superspeedway has the record for the fastest recorded time by a NASCAR stock car in a closed oval course, with the record of 216.309 mph set by Rusty Wallace on June 9, 2004.” Even though Talladega Superspeedway made my list because of a movie, it is still a very important track to NASCAR and actually deserves to be on the list because of its merits.

The Talladega Superspeedway boasts over 143,000 seats and you can visit them on the web.

NASCAR Top Race Track #2: Daytona International Speedway

The Daytona International Speedway is home to the most important race of the Skedaddle Cup Series, the Daytona 500. This accelerate track opened in 1959 and hosts not only stock car races, but go-kart races, motorcycle races, among other vehicles.

The Daytona International Speedway is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is a great spot to go and catch a great race, then go out and soak in the gorgeous Florida sun.

NASCAR Top Race Track #3: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is another big race track that hosts NASCAR events. Most notably, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is home to the Indy 500 – but that is not a NASCAR event. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is home to the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, which is more commonly referred to as the Brickyard 400.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is rich in history and heritage, which is why I included it on my list. It came in to existence in 1909 and has been an establishment for racing ever since. 2009 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – and that’s a very important milestone!

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway boasts 250,000 seats and you can visit them on the web.

NASCAR Top Race Track #4: Lowe’s Motor Speedway

Lowe’s Motor Speedway is located approach Charlotte, North Carolina. One really cool thing about the Lowe’s Motor speedway is that it has 52 condominiums over turn 1 that are available for year-round residences. It is also the home of the Coca-Cola 600 which is one of the top five NASCAR races.

Most recent news surrounding Lowe’s Motor Speedway was a special treatment that the track went through in 2005 due to wear from its last repaving in 1994. This treatment caused problems with tires and was subsequently repaved in 2006.

The Lowe’s Motor Speedway can sit around 165,000 people and you can visit them on the web.

NASCAR Top Race Track #5: Texas Motor Speedway

The Texas Motor Speedway is located near Ft. Worth, Texas. It is home to two Sprint Cup races – the Samsung 500 and the Dickies 500. It also hosts two NASCAR Camping Truck Series Races, the Chevrolet Silverado 250 and the Sam’s Town 400.
